President’s Thought’s

My Brothers,

It has been an incredible 3 months! The pavilion is now open, a very generous donation was given that outfitted it with all new furniture and we are still growing. The family picnic was just wonderful. I would like to thank the volunteers that helped make it a success. Bandtoberfest is coming up on October 5th. Please come out and enjoy the music and the food. It’s going to be a great day for sure!

In case you didn’t know, we have Eagles royalty among us. In June, our own Junior Past Worthy President, Dennis Plodzik was inducted into the Michigan State Eagles Hall of Fame! It was a proud moment, not only for Dennis, but for all of us. It shows what you can achieve by being a leader and being selfless. His work, dedication and leadership are what make us who we are today and enable us to be better Eagles and become a stronger club. Congratulations Plods!!!

On a more serious note, over the last few months there has been an increase in per capita taxes by the Grand Aerie. A per capita tax is a mandatory contribution that both the State Aerie and the Grand Aerie levy against a local Aerie based on members. Currently, we pay a per capita tax of $12.00 to the Grand Aerie PER MEMBER. As of June 1, 2025, the per capita tax will go up. The Grand Aerie will require a $20 per capita tax. This is a very large increase that will affect all Aeries in North America. Please bear with us as we will have to adjust for a financial increase that large.

Finally, communication is what makes us a better, well-oiled machine. It also prevents misunderstandings and poor decision making. Please remember that we need to communicate with each other and ask questions so that we can understand each other and our points of view. My ‘door’ is always open and please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. The more we communicate, the more we work together!

Thank you all again for everything you do to make 1269 the best it can be!

Be a Leader, Be Kind, Be Selfless

Ben Goers, Worthy President

From Your Madam President

Hello Eagle Club Members!

My name is Sheila Puglia, and I am honored to introduce myself as your new Auxiliary Madam President. I am excited to be a part of this great organization and to connect with members who share a passion for making a difference in our community. I have lived in New Baltimore for about 15 years and enjoy cooking, baking, music, and the arts. I am always eager to learn and grow in new ways.

In my professional life I am a dental hygienist. I play a crucial role in not only improving people’s smiles but promoting their overall health.

Outside of work, family is my number one priority, and I genuinely believe it is the foundation of everything I do. Whether it is the shared laughter or the bond that keeps us grounded, family is where I draw my strength and inspiration.

I joined the club because I believe in its core values of people, supporting charity work and the camaraderie. I look forward to working together to make a positive impact, and to building new friendships. This year my charity is St. Jude's Hospital. As some of you know we had a breakfast and started to raise money for the hospital. I am excited to let you know that coming this Spring we will be hosting Kentucky Derby for St Jude's!! Details will be coming soon but I am sure we will have a blast!

I would also like to thank the members who have volunteered on a committee, in the kitchen, donated a dessert, showed up to support an event! You are all incredibly special to me and very much appreciated!

Thank you for welcoming me into this amazing community. I look forward to being involved in the incredible work the Eagles Club does. Please feel free to reach out! You can usually find me at the club for Sunday Football, Karaoke, Show me the Money and dancing to the bands Saturday nights!

Sheila Puglia, Auxiliary President

Important message from the Trustees

Dear Valued Member’s

We are here to run the day-to-day business needs and to enforce house rules and by-laws, etc.  We are a club approximately 2000 members, we are opened 7 days a week about 12-14 hours a day.  That’s about 96 hours a week of 5000 hours a year. So, divide that with the numbers of members we have, if each member could donate ONLY 4 hours a year to help-out with the place and volunteer their time then maybe all the disappointed people that feel the need to gossip and scream at the trustees would be happy that their needs are met.  Any member can change toiletries, fill the paper towels, take out trash, wipe down tables anything to help-out.  We are not a bar.  As a member of a private club, you’re expected to pick up after yourselves and your guest.  Treat our establishment like it’s your home and help-out. We are a club with a motto of “People Helping People” which should include our own club.  If there is anyone that wants to help-out and step up to the plate.  Please just see one of the trustees and we can fill you in and advise you where help is needed.

Please remember when you sign in a guest they MUST leave when you leave.

Do not open the door for anyone, whether they’re your friends or not.  The bartender must buzz them in.

Thank you, #1269 Board of Trustees
